An amazing kayaking route to reach the spectacular “Chinese Wall” of Huesca!
The kayaking route to Finestres may not have the same fame as the Congost de Mont-rebei kayaking route, but it makes up for it with one of those amazing landscapes that leaves no one indifferent. Moreover, it is a very uncrowded area, so with this adventure activity you will be able to enjoy the beauty of the place in peace and quiet.
The Finestres kayak tour will take you to what is known as the “Chinese Wall of Huesca“. In reality, it is a formation of vertical strata that nature sculpted in a jagged shape as if it were a real wall.
This 5 km long strait is one of the least travelled kayak routes in Catalonia. The Finestres area has a spectacular beauty that very few privileged people have been able to observe, as it is a place that is practically inaccessible by land. In addition, among the strata formations, we can contemplate some of the best places to see south of Mont-rebei: the Romanesque chapel of Sant Vicenç (12th century) and the rests of the mediaeval castle of Finestres.
In addition, kayaking in Finestres will give the lucky ones the opportunity to observe the griffon vulture and other birds of prey that can be found near the water.
The kayaking route through the Congost de Fet begins at the Corçà pier. This is an independent activity. Once we deliver your equipment, you’ll paddle past the Torre de les Conclues, located on an impressive wall 400 meters above the water level, toward the Congost de Fet. After exploring the Congost, you can continue westward toward the Finestres wall. Those who wish can climb to the abandoned village of Finestres and visit the Sant Vicenç hermitage. The kayaking distance through the Congost de Fet is 7 kilometers one way, and then those who wish to go to the Finestres wall have another 4 kilometers one way. From there, they can walk for approximately 25 minutes to the abandoned village and visit the San Vicenç hermitage. Then, they would follow the same route back to the starting point. The round trip takes approximately 6 hours to cover approximately 22 km. This route is the most comprehensive route possible. However, you can plan your itinerary according to your tastes and preferences, making the activity more or less demanding, with the advice of our staff.
Its technical difficulty is medium-low and the level of physical demand is medium.
In order to enjoy the Finestres kayak trip, we recommend that you come equipped with: shoes, comfortable clothes (swimming costume optional), a spare change of clothes, sunglasses, hat, sun protection, water (2 litres per person) and food (highly recommended).
